Olusola Allyson-Obaniyi, a singer-songwriter, was born in Ikorodu, Lagos State in the early 70s. She had her primary education at Anglican Primary School, Ikorodu, her secondary education at Shams-el-deen Grammar School, Ikorodu and later proceeded to Government Technical College, Agidingbi, Ikeja where she studied Business Studies and obtained an NBTE Certificate.
She gained admission into The Polytechnic Ibadan to study Music Technology in 1997 and she graduated with an Upper Credit, Voice major, Piano minor. She started her musical career at the young age of thirteen (13). She later became a professional back-up singer and worked with various artistes like Stella Monye, Gbenga Adeboye, Yinka Ayefele, Kayode Olajide and a host of others.
Sola, as she is popularly called, is a singer by heavenly endowment, a musicologist by training and a musician by profession. Her debut album, EJI OWURO shot her into limelight in 2003 and since then she became a brand sought after in the music industry. So far, she has four (4) albums to her credit which are EJI OWURO , GBEJE F’ORI , [IRE] 2007. She released IM’OORE recently, produced by Cobhams Asuquo and Tolu Fafowora.
Her powerful soul-relaxing voice, combined with her fluidity in the lyrical presentation of the Yoruba language has endeared her works to millions of fans, home and abroad. Her music gets under your skin to get into your heart thereby transforming your mind. Sola is indeed a woman who is very deep into inspirational music. Even when you do not understand her words, her voice and the sound of her music communicates deep into your soul. She is a multiple award winner who believes so much in being Yoruba as she knows GOD makes no mistakes and we should not call HIM a liar by wanting to be who we are not made to be. She is presently one of the most successful female indigenous musicians in Nigeria.
One of her songs ‘OMO TUNTUN’ was adapted by Unilever Plc as a commercial for one of their new products in 2005. She is a multiple award winner who has featured in various radio and television programmes, magazines and newspapers like AM Express, New Dawn with Funmi Iyanda, The Punch, City People, Moments with MO, Africa Awakes on Africa Magic, Owuro l’a wa, Encomium, Gem Magazine, Tribune, True Love West Africa, 234Next, News of the People, The Guardian, The Sun, The News Magazine and a host of others. She has also been one of the judges on the most popular Musical Talent Hunt show in West Africa, MTN Project Fame West Africa for three seasons since PFWAII.

She is married to her best friend and confidant, Mr. Toyin Obaniyi and they are blessed with Ayobami, Mopelola and Obafunmiwo.
